Getting started
Can I order now?
Yes. Pick a plan, create an account and pay monthly in US dollars through Stripe. You then manage your server in our Pterodactyl panel.
What do you host?
Minecraft servers. Website and Discord bot hosting are coming soon.
How much does it cost?
We have 8 monthly plans, from $3.50 to $59.99 a month. The plans page lists each one with its RAM, CPU, storage and backup slots.
Where are the servers?
Customer servers run in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Our control panel runs in Germany.
What control panel do you use?
Pterodactyl. You use it to start and stop your server, manage files, view the console and handle backups.
Can you move my existing server to Shard Hosting?
Yes. Every plan includes free file migration: we'll move your existing server files to Shard Hosting. Open a Discord ticket or email [email protected] after you order.
Your Minecraft server
Do I need to know Linux or commands?
No. You manage your server in the Pterodactyl panel in your browser: start and stop it, edit files, read the console and make backups. A few Minecraft server commands help, but you don't need Linux.
How do my friends join my server?
The Console page in the panel shows your server's address. Players add it in Minecraft under Multiplayer, then Add Server. The joining guide walks through it.
How much RAM do I need?
It depends on your server type, mods, plugins and player count. The RAM calculator gives you a number and the plan that fits it.
Can I install plugins and mods?
Yes. You get full access to your server files, so you can upload plugin or mod files yourself. Plugins need a server type that supports them, and mods need a mod loader. See the plugin and mod guides.
Can I upload my own world?
Yes. Upload it on the panel's Files page, or over SFTP if it's large. The world guide shows where it goes.
What does the CPU % on the plans mean?
100% is one CPU thread of our Ryzen 9 9950X. A plan with 200% can use up to two threads at once, 300% up to three, and so on. The hardware page explains it in more detail.
Can friends help me manage the server?
Yes. On the panel's Users page you can give someone their own login to your server and choose what they're allowed to do, like using the console or editing files.
Do you take backups?
Your plan includes backup slots: 5 on the smaller plans and 10 on the larger ones. We can't guarantee every file or restore point can be recovered, so please keep your own copies of anything important.
Billing and cancelling
How does billing work?
You pay monthly in US dollars. Payments are handled by Stripe. A subscription renews each month until you cancel it.
How do I cancel?
Email [email protected] or open a Discord ticket with your account email and the service or invoice number. Cancellation stops future renewals, and your service normally stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
Can I get a refund?
We only give refunds when something is wrong with the service on our side, such as an outage or a server we didn't deliver. Ask within 7 days of the problem by opening a ticket or emailing [email protected]. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
What happens to my files after my service ends?
For 14 days after your service actually ends, you can ask support for a copy of your recoverable files. After that, the files and their backups are deleted.
How old do I need to be?
You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to buy.
Support and policies
How do I get help?
For general and technical help, email [email protected] or open a ticket on our Discord. We reply as soon as we can, but we aren't online around the clock and we can't promise a response time. For payments and invoices, email [email protected].
Do you have DDoS protection?
Yes. We filter attack traffic before it reaches your server. No protection can stop every attack, so we can't promise your server will never be affected.
Do you guarantee uptime?
No. We work to keep things running, but we don't offer an uptime guarantee, service credits or compensation for interruptions. You can check the current status at status.shardhosting.net.
What am I not allowed to host?
Anything our Acceptable Use Policy forbids, such as illegal content, attacks on other systems, or anything that harms our shared servers or other customers. Please read the full policy before you order. To report abuse, email [email protected].
How do you handle my personal data?
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it and who processes it. For privacy requests, email [email protected].
Do you have a phone number or office?
No. You can reach us by email or on our Discord. Use [email protected] for general help, billing@ for payments, abuse@ for abuse reports, security@ for security issues, privacy@ for data requests, legal@ for legal notices, sales@ for questions before you buy and partners@ for partnerships.
